Position Summary:

The Quality Technician, under management supervision, will perform all company QA and QC activities for the manufacturing of dietary supplement products. Primary responsibilities will include receiving & certificate of analysis verifications, sampling and testing of all raw materials and finished products, and document control maintenance. This includes periodic testing of the environment and equipment cleaning verification between product runs. Complete feedback systems that include internal auditing, calibrations, and pre-requisite program verification review.

Essential Functions:

-      Adhere to company Policies, Programs and Standard Operating Procedures.

-      Review all company standards, policies and procedures related to the manufacturing of products as they relate to food safety, food quality, compliance.

-      Make decisions about food safety, GMP’s, customer requirements, and regulations as they relate to quality. Consult with Quality Manager as needed.

-      Perform inspection of packaging materials and labels to ensure specifications are met.

-      Perform organoleptic inspection of incoming raw materials.

-      Sample incoming and finished products and send to 3rd party lab for testing to ensure specifications are met.

-      Maintain sampling logs and the receipt of test results and sample retains.

-      Manage quarantine and release of incoming and finished product pending testing results/batch review.

-      Verify batch ingredients pre and postproduction runs.

-      Sample and perform in house ATP/allergen testing on finished product surfaces.

-      Perform various quality verifications to ensure compliance with specifications for identity, purity, strength, and composition (visual inspection, label verification, weight check, metal and screen checks, yield, etc.).

-      Perform batch record review to ensure production process performed correctly and that all specifications are met.

-      Review all forms related to cleaning & sanitation, production, and maintenance.

-      Complete internal audits, calibrations and training as needed through the quality department.

-      Serve as a backup to the quality manager when dealing with third party pest control, sanitation experts, and calibration companies.

-      Quarantine related product and initiate product non-conformances including recalls, complaints, deviations, and OOS investigations.

-      Assist with investigations, document control, process improvement, SOP review, and updating specifications.

-      Be a member of the company's food safety/food defense team.

Required Education and Experience:

-      2+ years’ experience in production or Quality functions for food, dietary supplement, or pharmaceutical manufacturing

-      Work independently in a food manufacturing environment.

-      Significant experience with FDA and GMP regulatory standards, focused on 21 CFR Part 111, 117, or 507 preferred

-      General understanding of laboratory practices and testing requirements

-      Not required but any certifications with food safety or quality - HACCP Certified, PCQI Certified, SQF Certified, six sigma, etc.

Travel:

-      Minimal travel as required; should not exceed 10% of time

Work Authorization:

-      Must be authorized to work in the US.

Physical Demands and Other Duties:

-      The work requires light physical demands with frequent lifting and/or moving of materials in the 10-50-pound range. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration, and high noise levels. Knowledge and implementation of safety practices and personal protective equipment is critical.
