We are seeking just the right person to join our cohesive team.What is this career opportunity? The Department of Administration is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented internal auditor to help us enhance performance, ensure accountability, and effectively manage risk. As a member of this team within the Director's Office, you would provide direct support in conducting business process reviews while identifying key financial and other internal controls across all divisions. Your responsibilities would include: reviewing and testing internal control processes for business initiatives; providing insight and recommendations for process improvement, explaining interrelationships between financial statement risks and processes; testing compliance with state and federal laws; providing subrecipient monitoring of federal grants; monitoring corrective action measures for audit findings; and performing other fiscal activities in support of the Department's mission.What Are We Looking For?Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field; and three years' of experience in a professional accounting and/or auditing position. Other combinations of the above education and experience will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.Preferred QualificationsWe are especially interested in candidates who have obtained their CPA certification or are working toward certification; are familiar with the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) Standards for Internal Control in the Federal Government (Green Book); have experience with the Statewide Accounting, Budgeting, and Human Resources System (SABHRS) or other large financial software systems; or possess knowledge of state government administrative policies and procedures, state laws, and the State's budgetary process.CompetenciesTeamwork skills with a willingness to contribute creative and innovative ideas as well as to support other staff with their projects. Knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for governmental entities. Understanding of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS). A high degree of analytical skills including accounting analysis and math skills; and ability to multi-task on various projects.Does this sound like you?
