Position Description: The Operations Manager will oversee all aspects of the operations within a manufacturing plant. This role involves hiring, training, and motivating staff, developing and preparing manufacturing budgets, and ensuring that operations are conducted in accordance with financial budget guidelines. The Operations Manager will also be responsible for ensuring products are manufactured efficiently, safely, and meet the organization's quality standards. Additionally, this role involves developing and enforcing policies and procedures for production methods, quality, and safety.


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • At least five years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification


Skills Requirements:

  • Proven experience in leadership and management within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills to manage physical and human resources
  • Ability to plan, organize, direct, and control manufacturing activities


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the production process and create a production schedule
  • Ensure that planned KPIs for efficiency and performance are met or exceeded
  • Ensure that production is cost-effective
  • Track competencies of subordinates and provide leadership and development to achieve objectives
  • Implement and evolve safety procedures
  • Develop and execute the yearly manufacturing plan to meet business objectives (production volume, manufacturing controlled cost, quality, safety)
  • Establish and maintain performance standards for operations
  • Align the manufacturing organization with the company vision, purpose, and priorities
  • Coordinate, set up, and implement standard operating procedures for all production operations
  • Ensure that products are produced on time and meet quality standards
  • Manage adherence to prescribed procedures to ensure first-pass quality meets or exceeds planned goals
  • Conduct performance appraisals for direct reports and ensure the same for the rest of the production areas
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies, systems, and processes
  • Ensure complete compliance with prescribed QMS, GMPs, and 5S processes
  • Estimate costs and set quality standards
  • Manage manufacturing operations consistent with company operating guidelines
  • Establish individual accountability using coaching, support, and performance management processes
  • Assess manufacturing operations staffing and skill requirements and develop plans to address needs
  • Institutionalize manufacturing best practice tools and processes
  • Establish manufacturing priorities and allocate resources
  • Ensure compliance with environmental policies, systems, and processes
  • Effectively manage performance in the department to meet business needs
