Location: Redmond, WA- Onsite, 5x a week


Our client is a leading technology company focused on developing advanced solutions for the satellite industry. They specialize in creating customized Linux solutions for satellite embedded software. The Embedded OS/Linux Build Engineer will design, build, and maintain customized Linux solutions for satellite embedded software. This role requires expertise in embedded systems, Linux kernel configuration, and build system development. The engineer will work with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, efficient embedded software solutions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain tailored Linux solutions for satellite embedded software.
  • Configure and optimize the Linux kernel for embedded systems, focusing on performance and security.
  • Design and implement build systems, including toolchains, scripts, and package management.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate and test embedded software components.
  • Troubleshoot and debug system-level issues such as kernel panics and memory leaks.
  • Conduct performance analysis and optimization.
  • Stay current with advancements in embedded Linux technologies and satellite communication standards.
  • Document design specifications, build procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in embedded systems development with a focus on Linux-based platforms.
  • Proficiency in Linux kernel configuration and device tree customization.
  • Strong C/C++ and Bash programming skills.
  • Experience with build systems such as Yocto/OpenEmbedded or Buildroot.
  • Knowledge of satellite communication protocols (e.g., CCSDS, DVB-S2) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Git, JIRA, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities.
  • Self-motivated and passionate about innovation and technology.
