Job Summary: The Controller will play a critical role in managing the financial operations of our manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing, cost accounting, and financial management, having progressed in their career from a Cost Accountant role to an Assistant Controller or Controller position. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all accounting activities, ensuring financial accuracy, and contributing to the strategic financial planning of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the company's financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Develop and maintain accurate cost accounting systems to ensure precise product costing, inventory valuation, and financial analysis.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Manage the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure effective internal controls are in place to safeguard company assets and maintain financial integrity.
  • Collaborate with department heads to provide financial guidance and support for operational decision-making.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and reviews.
  • Stay current with industry trends, accounting regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a Cost Accounting role.
  • Proven experience as an Assistant Controller or Controller.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with [specific software, if applicable] is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
