Emerge is currently recruiting qualified candidates for a direct hire 2nd shift The Manufacturing Manager job in Whitehall, MI for our client, a busy manufacturer of high-quality, technical products. The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for providing leadership on the 2nd shift to a team of 5-7 Production Supervisors that oversee 200+ skilled production personnel. The Manufacturing Manager will report directly to the Operations Manager and will have oversight of manufacturing excellence, ensuring customer satisfaction and continuous improvement of plant performance measurements, including quality, productivity, cycle time, delivery, and cash flow. We are seeking candidates with experience managing 100 or more associates in a heavy manufacturing environment that are seeking to grow their career. Our client offers a salary of up to $120,000 plus a robust bonus plan, excellent benefits that start day one. The working hours are Monday – Friday approximately 2:30-10:30 pm. Full relocation package is available.
Responsibilities for the Manufacturing Manager Job in Whitehall, MI include:
- Provide leadership for Plant supervisory team of five to seven.
- Ensure the safety of all employees by promoting a clean and safe work environment.
- Improve manufacturing planning, execution, and shop floor discipline.
- Use lean manufacturing tools to reduce WIP and cycle time. Improve product flow and/or implement method improvements to reduce labor content. Drive cost reductions to improve profitability.
- Provide leadership to identify and remove non-value-added waste.
- Develop and train for the professional and personal growth of team leaders, cell facilitators, supervisors, and other manufacturing support personnel.
- Address any safety issues or non- compliances immediately.
- Develop with plant manager and staff budget, strategic plans, team goals and objectives that align with BU objectives. Accountable for applicable department budgets and P & L performance.
- Manages flow down goals and objectives to the entire organization.
- Conduct capacity analysis to drive standard work and ensure accuracy of standards. Maintains excellent delivery performance.
- Understand constraint management, OEE and apply techniques that exploit constraints to improve OEE.
- Provide leadership in implementing continuous improvement methods and ideas.
- Consults with engineering personnel relative to modifications to the process in order to improve production and quality of the products.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Business Administration or Engineering from an accredited institution or in the process of obtaining degree.
- At least Seven (7) or more years’ experience in leadership roles within a manufacturing environment; 3 of the 7 years must be as a supervisor in a manufacturing environment.
- A strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Experience with Casting, tooling, molds and dies relating to the Investment Casting, Injection Molding, or Stamping Industries is preferred.
- Strong leadership skills that create an engaged employee environment.
- Able to drive improvement through the implementation of the lean manufacturing principles, total quality practices, six sigma. Must have financial acumen.
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status; ITAR defines U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., "Green Card Holder"), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
