This Learning & Development Specialist role presents a unique opportunity to leverage your LMS experience, as well as instructional design expertise and design skills to create engaging and impactful training experiences. Your contributions will play a vital role in enhancing our organization‘s learning and development initiatives. This position reports to our Learning & Development Director. This full-time, hybrid role will be based in our corporate office in Somerville, MA.

Essential responsibilities:

Learning Management System (LMS)

  • Monitor the configuration, performance, and utilization of the Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure continuous operations and access for end users.
  • Manage LMS integrations with client systems.
  • Develop proper configuration of online training content through understanding of SCORM, browser and other eLearning support standards.
  • Provide administrative support through LMS Inbox/ticketing system by monitoring and responding appropriately and timely to emails and requests.
  • Provide support to users on LMS functionalities, including but not limited to troubleshooting technical issues, log-in/access, course registrations, and LMS navigation.
  • Manage the creation, assignments and maintenance of user accounts, groups, departments, roles, and permissions in the LMS.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, SMEs, content creators, and instructional designers to ensure learning materials are accessible and maintained in the LMS.
  • Ensure training records are processed in a timely manner, in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Create and maintain LMS-related documentation, user guides and reference materials.
  • Generate and analyze reports on user assignment, engagement, and course completion.
  • With input from stakeholders, design and apply assessment tools to measure training effectiveness, track, and report outcomes.

eLearning Design and Development

  • Develop eLearning modules using content authoring tools to ensure interactive and engaging learning experiences.
  • Leverage graphic design tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite, for creating visually appealing elements in eLearning courses.
  • Create various modalities of eLearning courses, including self-paced modules, simulations, and microlearning.
  • Collaborate with the L&D team and Subject Matter Experts (SMES) to identify learning objectives and design strategies.
  • Create and maintain content library, user guides and reference materials related to training.

Skills and Competencies Summary:

  • Proficiency in the monitoring of the configuration, performance, and utilization of the LMS.
  • Proficiency in managing LMS functionalities and customer service in handling customer inquiries and troubleshooting issues.
  • Process improvement and quality mindset.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in the industry-standard design and learning development tools.
  • Excellent skills in content authoring tools, such as Articulate Storyline 360, Rise 360, and Adobe Captivate.
  • Proficiency in using tools such Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Animate), Camtasia, Vyond Studio and PowToons.
  • Ability to visualize and design effective learning materials.
  • Abilityto collaborate with SMEs, prioritize work and meet deadlines to deliver high-quality eLearning content.
  • Strong background in Instructional Design methodologies

Basic requirements:

  • Bachelor‘s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in eLearning development, instructional design, and Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Experience developing courses using Articulate 360, Camtasia, and other authoring software.
  • Proven portfolio showcasing eLearning projects and design work.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design best practices.
  • Excellent administrative and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to effectively manage tasks, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
  • Good project management and organizational skills to balance the demands of multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be eligible to work in United States without future sponsorship

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master‘s degree in Adult Learning, Learning Technology or Instructional Design.
  • Experience with Cornerstone Saba LMS highly preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in eLearning development or instructional design.
  • Experience in developing a variety of eLearning modalities.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems and eLearning standards.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
