Insight Global is looking for an Automation Engineer to work for one of our large manufacturing companies in Lexington, SC. This person will provide the automation hardware and software solution which drives/manages the automation present at each production site. In the case of the deployment of the standard solutions in the sites in North and South America, the deployer configures tests, installs and manages the project, follow up documents related to all activities including the production ramp up. Along with technical support of existing deployed solutions. Below are a list of some of the day to day duties.

  • Produce Complete and Complex automation system per standard of Automation and Electrical Engineering in order to propose best valued solution respecting the functional specification and the best cost/performance ratio.
  • Produce Set Up/Installation/Commissioning Instructions.
  • Know how to configure and start individual automation components and program the system.
  • Design a complete Automation system architecture
  • Can and able to configure and start automation system – component, controller, drive, network, and interface with Level 2 – supervisory system.
  • Create/Edit/Modify of PLC Program autonomously
  • Create/Edit/Modify of HMI Program autonomously
  • Performed a Risk Safety Analysis during design, install and commissioning.
  • Conduct Design review with Expert to demonstrate the robustness and optimization of proposed solution
  • Configure a PID of a servo loop for feedback control system
  • Configure and implement Level 1 control system integrated with Level 2 supervisory system.
  • Able to do cycle simulation and offline programming i.e. robot
  • Design and validate the Ethernet network security deployed on system with expert
  • Able to configure and start a slave system, motion, non-speed regulation with the main system.


Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 3 to 7 years of automation engineering experience
  • Associates or Bachelors in Engineering: Electrical Engineering or Electrical Tech
  • PLC Experience (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Festo, etc.)
  • Create/edit/modify
  • Design and Commissioning Rockwell Controller and/or Siemens Controller and HMI autonomously
  • Designing advance automation architecture for a machine involving Motion, HMI, network, etc.
