Triangle area’s leading non-profit provider of services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism seeking a part-time licensed mental health professional to provide therapeutic services to individuals, families, and groups to help improve mental well-being in our Durham office.


Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Work with individuals, families, and groups to improve mental health.
  • Perform intakes and assessments to evaluate patient needs and develop customized treatment plans.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans/procedures effective in resolving patients’ issues.
  • Diagnose and help patients define goals, action plan, and gain insight.
  • Create and maintain an up-to-date client profile to effectively track patient treatment process.
  • Collaborate with family members of patients to monitor behavioral changes and response to treatment.
  • Assist clients to take appropriate decisions concerning their career, marriage, and relationship.
  • Help clients cultivate skills and coping mechanisms necessary in overcoming their challenges.
  • Review and adjust treatment plan as necessary to match observed changes in clients’ recovery process.
  • Assist in helping to provide community resources for patients. 
  • Complete and maintain documentation in a timely and accurate manner and according to Federal and State guidelines.
  • Adherence to state statutes and policies, procedures, and guidelines set forth in North Carolina.
  • Complete continuing education courses to maintain National Certified Counselor certification and stay up-to-date on the latest practices.
  • Meet with clinical supervisor as required.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain schedule.

  • Compassion and empathy: An ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients.
  • Active listening skills: Excellent listening skills will allow you to understand what your clients are sharing with you and subsequently provide the help they need.
  • Verbal Communication: Your clients must be able to comprehend what you are telling them so they can take recommended actions.
  • Interpersonal Skills: You must be able to understand your clients' reactions and be able to persuade them to make necessary changes.
  • Service Orientation: You should have a strong desire to help others.
  • Critical Thinking: You must be able to identify and then evaluate possible solutions.


Qualifications:

  • Licensed Mental Health professional. 
  • Experience counseling individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism preferred.


Physical Demands:

  • Work involves talking, hearing, sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing stairs, and using hands to handle objects or operate tools.
