General Summary

Performs the daily functions associated with the ordering and review of commercial loan documents, booking and funding complex commercial loans while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and Unity Bank policies and procedures. Supports lending staff (CRE, Middle Market, Professional & Entrepreneurial, Corporate/Energy and/or Commercial Lending). Interacts with lenders, borrowers, underwriters and credit analysts, Information Technology, Compliance, Audit, and other departments as well as outside vendors such as attorneys, title companies and insurance companies.


Essential Functions (Majority of duties, but not meant to be all inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned as necessary)


Primary Duties & Responsibilities


  • a thorough knowledge and understanding of UNB policies, procedures, guidelines, and philosophies.
  • be knowledgeable of all aspects of commercial loan documentation, understanding legal entities and loan documents such as Notes, Security Instruments, Loan Agreements, etc.
  • and Reviews LaserPro documentation along with attorney prepared documents prior to booking and funding to ensure loan stipulations on the Loan Approval and Credit Memorandum are met.
  • with loan officers, borrowers, title companies and/or attorneys in closing and funding of loans
  • title policies to ensure accurate legal description, loan amount, and acceptable exceptions; prepares loan closing instructions for title company closings.
  • proper loan system coding (e.g., product type, collateral codes, call codes, and Escrow, etc.) and books loans to the core system.
  • loans accurately and ensures financial transactions balance each day.
  • top quality service to lenders and lending staff, while meeting service guarantees
  • documentation expertise to the team, assisting others with interpreting complex loan documents.
  • routinely with senior lenders and upper management.
  • all compliance policies and procedures, OCC rules and regulations, state and federal laws governing responsibility area of lending.
  • annual compliance testing/training/certification on time.
  • technical assistance & policy guidance to team members as needed.
  • other duties, tasks and special projects as required, assigned, or directed.
  • duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Minimum education, experience, technical and communication skill levels and licenses/certificates normally required to perform the duties of this position)


  • School diploma, GED or equivalent. Associate degree preferred.
  • minimum of 5 years current loan document review & closing experience as described in the above duties including experience in at least two key lending areas such as Corporate/Energy, SBA, CRE, C&I, Entrepreneurial, Middle Market, etc. Experience with Participations and Syndications is a plus.

In depth knowledge of closing procedures, loan processes and documentations, insurance requirements and banking regulations
