Job Overview: Senior Tax Analyst

We are looking for a Senior Tax Analyst to join our vibrant team and play a crucial role in our tax department. Working closely with the Senior Tax Manager, you will apply your deep understanding of Federal, State, and Local tax regulations to ensure accurate and timely tax compliance. Your responsibilities will span from personal and real estate property tax filings to sales tax and Form 990, demanding precision and diligence.

In addition to managing tax compliance, you will proactively address tax-related issues, collaborate with local government agencies to resolve valuation concerns, and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Clear communication of complex tax matters to management will be essential. If you're ready to embrace this challenge and drive both compliance and operational efficiency, we want to hear from you

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tax Filings: Ensure timely and accurate filings for sales, personal, and real estate property taxes for assigned states, and maintain organized tax files for each site/state.
  • Business Licenses: Proactively obtain and file business licenses in applicable cities/counties.
  • Form 990 Coordination: Serve as the point of contact for financial information between internal finance departments and external auditors for Form 990 and other assigned tax reports.
  • Fixed Assets Management: Collaborate with the Fixed Asset Accountant and Engineering Department to ensure accurate reporting of fixed asset information. Address discrepancies between book asset listings and engineering inventories.
  • Site Knowledge: Review lease and acquisition documents, and liaise with Legal, Leasing, and other departments for accurate reporting. Verify site locations and tax jurisdictions using Accounting and Property Tax Management Systems, Tableau, and Signal Data.
  • Issue Resolution: Research and resolve tax issues, proactively communicating findings and solutions to the Senior Tax Manager and relevant Finance Team Members.
  • Tax Savings: Apply for available Christian or charitable exemptions and protest excessively assessed valuation notices if tax savings justify.
  • Billing Management: Follow up on billing discrepancies with counties and ensure timely payment of all bills.
  • PTMS Software Management: Utilize PTMS property tax software for return preparation and explore additional features to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Reporting and Planning: Develop and analyze reports on property subject to tax, assessed values, exemptions, and taxes. Implement PTMS forecast modules for planning.
  • Procedure Optimization: Plan and implement strategies to streamline tax return filing processes, reviewing these strategies with the Senior Tax Manager.
  • Insurance Preparation: Prepare lists for annual insurance renewals, including tower sites, replacement costs, and real property buildings.
  • Real Property Monitoring: Monitor owned land and studio sites for real property taxes, ensuring bills are received and paid.
  • Strategic Information: Provide key insights into current property values and details. Assist with tax filings and research projects as assigned.
  • Training and Support: Offer training and guidance for temporary help assisting with tax-related functions.
  • Awareness and Adaptation: Stay informed about new company activities that may impact tax filings and communicate these to the Senior Tax Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience with for-profit/non-profit entities, navigating complex tax issues in multi-state environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Federal, State, and Local tax laws and regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience applying financial models to strategic initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), MapInfo, Google Earth Pro, RadioSoft, and analytics tools.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently, meet performance goals, and adapt to change while maintaining high productivity.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build genuine business relationships and maintain confidentiality.
