Dispatch LeadThe Dispatch Lead will manage end-to-end dispatch operations, ensure efficient route planning, and serve as the escalation point for drivers and customers. This role combines hands-on dispatching with supervisory responsibilities and data-driven route optimization.Key ResponsibilitiesAbility to supervise and mentor a team of 35 dispatchers; conduct daily huddles and weekly performance reviewsOversee real-time dispatching for a fleet of 200+ vehicles; adjust assignments based on traffic, weather, and priority loadsDesign and refine daily/weekly routes using software to minimize miles, fuel, and overtimeMonitor KPI dashboards (on-time %, miles per stop, driver utilization) and implement corrective actionsAct as primary point of contact for driver escalations, customer inquiries, and after-hours emergenciesCollaborate with warehouse, sales, and safety teams to align on load requirements and ETAsMaintain accurate logs in the TMS; generate daily/weekly reports for senior leadershipTrain new dispatchers on company protocols, software, and compliance (DOT hours-of-service, weight limits, etc.)Required QualificationsMinimum 3 years of professional dispatching experience in trucking, last-mile, or courier servicesProven knowledge of route-planning software and ability to build optimized multi-stop routesStrong geographic knowledge of the service area1+ year in a lead or supervisory role (formal or informal)Proficiency with TMS platforms (e.g., Samsara, Motive, KeepTruckin, or equivalent) and Microsoft Office/Google SheetsExcellent communication skillsclear radio etiquette and professional phone/email demeanorAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environment; flexible schedule including some weekends/holidays
