To help reach our Zero waste goals, we are adding a Level 1 resource to focus on sorting waste streams. The focus will be on supplementing logistics efforts specifically during data center turn over when waste streams are high and opportunities to sort are often missed due to heavy volumes of waste. Much of this can be diverted from landfill with the proper resources to ensure this takes place.

Job Description:


Job Title: Critical Environment Support Assistant


Job Purpose: To improve the efficiency and effectiveness of waste management in the data center by sorting waste streams and ensuring proper waste diversion measures are taken.


Key Responsibilities:

• Sort waste streams according to the categories of recyclables and landfill.

• Ensure that waste bins are labeled, clean, and accessible.

• Monitor waste generation and diversion rates and report any issues or suggestions.

• Coordinate with CBRE/waste haulers and vendors to ensure timely and accurate pickup and delivery.

• Report to MSFT FTE regarding sorting opportunities in a weekly report.

• Proactively guide waste producers to the proper recycling locations

• Raise awareness for any waste streams that don’t have a recycling solution.

• Frequent dumpster/waste bin inspections to ensure proper sorting has taken place.

• Work with logistics team members to capture all sorting opportunities.

• Deliver recycling materials to a recycler if needed.

• Support Critical Environment Operations Team with filter replacements and disposal.

• Monitor vendor projects for proper waste disposal.

• Assist CE teams and Logistics teams with various other duties.

• Qualifications:

• The ideal candidate will have experience in waste management and a commitment to sustainability.

- Ability to conduct waste audits and identify opportunities for improvement

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software tools


Resource(s) will be working Monday through Friday, core business hours between 7AM and 7PM

Supplier Provided Windows 11 compatible Laptop WILL BE required.


Supplier-Provided PPE required:

* Feet: Lace-up steel or composite toe-boots which cover the ankle, has a slip resistant sole, and meets specifications set-forth in the American Society of Testing Material (ASTM) International Standard F2413-05, Standard Specification for Performance Requirements for Protective (Safety) Toe Cap Footwear.

* Hands: Level 5 cut/abrasion/impact- resistant gloves

* High Visibility Vests
