Labor Relations Manager
Location: West Sacramento, Ca
Salary Range: $85,500 – $117,610 per year
The Labor Relations Manager is responsible for overseeing labor relations programs and processes, advising stakeholders on labor-related issues, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and collective bargaining agreements. This role requires extensive knowledge of labor relations, human resources practices, and regulatory requirements, as well as the ability to implement policies that align with the company's mission and goals.
What You Will Be Doing
- Manage labor relations programs, including labor contract and grievance administration.
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost savings.
- Conduct competitive industry research on labor contracts and make strategic recommendations.
- Attend labor negotiations and serve as second chair, assuming leadership in the absence of the Director of Labor Relations.
- Oversee the grievance process, ensuring consistent adherence to collective bargaining agreements.
- Collaborate with attorneys on arbitration cases and prepare briefs.
- Provide guidance to HR teams and management on labor contracts, discipline, benefits, and employee relations.
- Interpret and administer labor contracts, advising on federal, state, and local regulations.
- Develop and conduct training programs on labor relations topics.
- Prepare reports, memos, and proposals related to labor contracts and HR policies.
- Serve as a liaison for payroll projects and labor relations initiatives.
- Build and maintain professional relationships within and outside the organization.
What You Bring
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field plus six (6) years of experience in labor relations or HR generalist roles; experience in the retail industry is preferred.
- Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of labor relations, employment law, and collective bargaining trends.
- Knowledge of federal and state HR regulations (ERISA, EEO, ADA, COBRA, Wage & Hour, etc.).
- Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to develop relationships at all organizational levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR-related software.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
- Strong presentation and training facilitation skills.
