Application Analyst

Job Summary:

As an Application Analyst, you'll bring technical expertise and leadership to configure, document, test, modify, and maintain software applications. Your role involves applying specialized knowledge in applications and technology to design and develop software solutions, leading the creation of system and operational documentation, and supporting all issues within your specific application area. You will configure applications by translating business requirements into software specifications.


Key Responsibilities:


Design & Development:

  • Design new and existing applications, configure code, test, and troubleshoot existing programs.
  • Analyze end-user data and business needs to ensure optimal program/system performance.
  • Lead the creation of system and operational documentation.


Workflow & Process Improvement:

  • Proactively initiate and participate in IT workflow definition and monitoring of processes:
  • Incident and Problem Management
  • IT Service Request and Task Management
  • Change Control Management
  • IT Project Management


Provide application workflow and functional analysis, build and configuration, unit and integrated testing, and plans for transition to ongoing support.


Testing & Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct unit testing of all code/programs before releasing them to QA.
  • Collaborate with the QA team to identify test cases and create test data.
  • Provide implementation/production support during the testing process and after deployment.


Issue Resolution & Support:

  • Evaluate, troubleshoot, and lead root-cause analysis for production issues and system failures.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of assigned applications and their dependencies to prevent negative impact across applications.


Subject Matter Expertise:

  • Provide subject matter expertise for assigned application(s) to technology and business teams.
  • Coach and mentor staff on technology, methodologies, and standards.


Operational Support:

  • Resolve escalated issues and interact with vendors on problem resolution.
  • Provide after-hours support as required by IT leadership.


Patient-Centered Care:

  • Provide services focused on the needs and safety of patients and families.

  • Communicate in a respectful manner, ensuring a safe and secure environment.
  • Tailor care plans to meet individual patient needs.
  • Modify clinical interventions based on the population served.
  • Provide patient education based on an assessment of learning needs.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and related work experience.


Experience:

  • 5+ years of IT application experience.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life-Cycle (SDLC).
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills for process development and problem resolution.
  • Expertise in healthcare processes and application system coordination.
  • Working knowledge of database structure and reporting tools.
  • License/Certification/Registration:
  • If supporting Epic, certification in core applications is required within six months of employment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field.
  • Experience:
  • Experience within the healthcare industry.
  • Relevant certifications and experience.
  • License/Certification/Registration:
  • Epic Certifications for Epic roles.
