Systems/Network Administrator 

 

Brooklyn-based Ecommerce Company looking for a Systems/Network Administrator to join our small but diverse team of IT specialists. The team is responsible for all company-wide IT functions and consists of programmers, network/hardware/software specialists, website manager, and hardware/helpdesk support.  

 

Our company relies on the seamless integration of our ERP and content management systems to our multiple online sales platforms. As a tech-forward company we rely heavily on our networks and systems and are looking for someone who understands the network/system challenges that multisite office and warehouse environments present. 

 

We are looking for a team player. Everyone on our IT team is a specialist in their field, but comfortable being on a team that collaborates daily on special projects. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for identifying the solutions and following through until the issue is 100% resolved.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  • Maintain, configure, update and install networking equipment and operating systems 
  • Determine and maintain our data storage and transmission needs. Ensure appropriate capacity and reliability 
  • Provide timely direct support to end users, especially during system setup and installation, and network changes 
  • Install software and ensure that it works with user network settings and operating system, troubleshooting connection or performance issues 
  • Monitor all network equipment and systems for performance issues and ensure reliability 
  • Review error logs, conduct regular tests of system speed and reliability, and follow up on issues reported by users and optimize configuration to resolve issues or improve reliability 
  • Conduct routine system audits for security and stability 
  • Oversee backend network and server infrastructure 
  • Designs and administer backend server-side elements of our network architecture 
  • Install network-wide antivirus programs, firewalls, configure databases and access, and deploy server-side upgrades to enhance performance 
  • Evaluates the need to upgrade or repair these systems while limiting the impact of these changes on business operations 
  • Conduct data backups, ensure reliability, and test restore capabilities 
  • Design and implement backup plans to prevent data loss, unauthorized access, and business continuity 
  • Maintain, design, and implement continuous improvement plans to enhance server, system, and network performance 
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, SonicWall, LAN, WAN, VPN, VLAN, Windows Server, Virtualization, Vendor Management, Managing Multiple Projects 

Requirements:

  • Experience in deployment, migration, and maintenance of cloud services and apps.
  • Experience in automation of basic IT tasks
  • Experience in following system design lifecycle policies
  • CI/CD pipeline
  • Knowledge or experience in the following: Basic Enterprise Networks/Security, Enterprise Backup and Recovery, System monitoring, Microsoft Enterprise services, Virtualization
  • Virtualization, Routing, Vpn’s, VOIP.
  • Strong communication skills. This is as important as technical capabilities.
