Job Summary:

As an Oil Derivatives Paper Trader, you will be responsible for executing and managing trading strategies in the oil derivatives market. You will utilize your deep market knowledge, quantitative skills, and trading acumen to generate profits while adhering to the firm’s risk management guidelines. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement trading strategies for oil derivatives, including futures, options, and swaps.
  • Execute trades efficiently, monitor positions, and manage risk exposure in real-time.
  • Conduct in-depth market analysis using technical and fundamental analysis to identify trading opportunities.
  • Collaborate with research analysts, risk managers, and other traders to refine trading strategies and improve performance.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of market trends, geopolitical events, and economic data impacting the oil markets.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal risk management policies.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly trading reports for senior management.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field. Advanced degrees (MBA, MSc) are preferred.
  • 2+ years experience in oil derivatives trading, preferably within a proprietary trading firm or a major financial institution.
  • Proven track record of profitability and risk management in oil derivatives trading.
  • In-depth knowledge of oil markets, including futures, options, and swaps.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in quantitative analysis and modeling.
  • Excellent decision-making skills under pressure and the ability to react swiftly to market changes.
  • Proficiency in trading platforms and tools (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, ICE, CME).
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
