About the Role: We are seeking an Associate to join our Litigation practice in the Chicago office. The ideal candidate will have one to three years of experience in commercial litigation, corporate law, or finance law, gained at a law firm, in-house legal department, or financial services company.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent financial institutions and senior secured lenders in workouts, restructurings, and enforcement proceedings.
  • Handle contract disputes, avoidance actions, and other types of commercial litigation.
  • Provide advice on the Uniform Commercial Code, as well as federal and state regulatory compliance, including consumer and institutional regulatory matters.
  • Participate in mediations, depositions of expert and lay witnesses, and represent clients in hearings and arbitration proceedings.
  • Draft and negotiate pleadings, motions, restructuring documents, and forbearance agreements.
  • Negotiate and prepare settlement agreements.


Qualifications:

  • Impressive academic credentials, JD from an accredited University
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple cases and competing work demands.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and oral communication skills.
  • Expertise in research, writing, editing, proofreading, and organizational skills.
  • Superior negotiating skills and a strong understanding of business, industry, and market issues.
  • Proficiency in advocacy and motions practice.
  • Willingness to work during non-standard hours and handle long hours when necessary.
  • Membership in good standing with the Illinois Bar or eligibility to waive in.
