Overview:

The Senior Supervisor - Autonomy will play a critical role in preparing mining sites for the successful deployment of autonomous operations. This position focuses on overseeing all earthworks activities, fostering a strong safety culture, and ensuring operational readiness while collaborating with diverse teams to achieve project objectives. The Senior Supervisor will manage resource allocation, ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, and optimize site conditions for autonomous systems. Through proactive risk mitigation, quality assurance, and data-driven decision-making, this role ensures operations readiness for autonomy solutions are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Safety Leadership
  • Promote and uphold a zero-harm safety culture, ensuring all operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and training sessions to reinforce best practices.
  • Participate in SOP reviews, risk assessments, and other safety protocols related to autonomous operations.
  • Identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with earthworks and AHS activities.
  • Advocate for adherence to AHS safety protocols during operations and testing phases.

2. Operational Readiness and System Implementation
  • Develop and execute operations readiness plans, defining milestones and requirements for earthworks activities leading to AHS deployment.
  • Gain hands-on experience with AHS functionality, including system navigation, troubleshooting, and operational performance monitoring.
  • Support the commissioning and testing of autonomous haulage equipment, ensuring compliance with operational standards.
  • Optimize site conditions to facilitate the seamless implementation and operation of AHS.

3. Productivity and Performance Optimization
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and implement opportunities for enhancing AHS operations.
  • Manage resources, including equipment, personnel, and materials, to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Monitor system performance and provide insights to improve equipment utilization, cycle times, and overall productivity.
  • Ensure alignment between operational needs and technical capabilities.

4. Training and Development
  • Participate in structured training programs to build expertise in AHS operations and earthworks management.
  • Mentor team members and facilitate training on autonomous systems, promoting skill development within the team.
  • Stay current on updates to AHS technology, ensuring operational practices reflect the latest advancements.

5. Collaboration and Communication
  • Act as a liaison between operational and technical teams, ensuring effective communication and alignment on project goals.
  • Provide constructive feedback on AHS functionality to technical teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Foster team learning by sharing insights and encouraging collaboration among peers and stakeholders.

Requirements:

• Strong understanding of mine safety regulations, environmental laws, and risk management procedures.

• 5 years of mining experience

• Ability and desire to learn new mining programs and systems

• Strong English communication skills (oral and written)

• Ability to draft and compose routine reports and correspondence

• Leadership skills

• Strong attention to detail

• Commitment to quality and safety standards

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address technical issues effectively and efficiently

• Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles

Preferred:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and data analysis.

• Advanced knowledge of mining equipment and machinery

• Mobile Equipment Operator or Shovel Operator

• Minestar and Terrain experience

• Dispatch Supervisor Experience

• Proficiency in interpreting geological surveys, maps, and mining data
