Position Overview: We are looking for a seasoned Project Manager/Estimator to lead and manage heavy highway construction projects from inception through completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating and managing projects involving bridges, paving, asphalt, grading, and excavation. This role demands a detail-oriented professional with excellent leadership and communication skills to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and budget.


Key Responsibilities:


Project Management:

  • Oversee all aspects of heavy highway construction projects, ensuring adherence to project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors, suppliers, and onsite personnel.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.
  • Resolve any issues or conflicts that may arise during the construction process.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, stakeholders, and team members.


Estimating:

  • Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for heavy highway projects, including bridges, paving, asphalt, grading, and excavation.
  • Analyse project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labour estimates.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
  • Present and review estimates with clients and management, providing insights and recommendations.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in project management and estimating within the heavy highway construction industry.
  • Proficient in construction management software and estimating tools.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations specific to heavy highway projects, including bridges and paving.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
