SUPPLY CHAIN DIRECTOR/MANAGER


Aviation Ground Equipment Corporation (AGEC) seeks a motivated, hands-on Supply Chain Manager/Director, for our rapidly growing Aerospace & Defense facility in Franklin, Ohio.


AGEC is an industry leader in the manufacturing and supply of ground support equipment (GSE) to global commercial and military customers and end users. AGEC operates two divisions, our OEM division designs and produces world-class GSE supporting a wide range of military aircraft platforms, on behalf of defense prime contractors and Government program offices. Our Commercial Division distributes a superior line of ground support equipment, parts, and service to global MRO, airline operators, Government agencies, and aviation end users.


The Supply Chain leader will be responsible for the direct material and selected indirect goods and services procured to pay cycle. The role is critical in affecting the supplier community's development and maintaining tactical performance. This role will partner closely with our sister company, HDT’s Supply/Purchasing Department, and manage the day-to-day performance of the inter-company and traditional external suppliers. AGEC is looking for a motivated, hands-on individual with a desire to grow his/her career in the Purchasing/Supply Chain industry.


What you will do:


  • Oversight for the entire procure-to-pay process for the AGEC Franklin site.
  • Develop and communicate a department growth strategy with leadership to align with company objectives.
  • Perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, search for better pricing, and find profitable suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain productive business relationships within the supplier community.
  • Manage the Obsolescence Tracking & Notification process related to suppliers.
  • Maintain supplier tactical performance and escalation routines to maintain supplier performance.
  • Manage the discrepant material resolution process to ensure timeline supplier quality issue resolution.
  • Maintain an on-time and consistent flow of components and materials to meet production schedules.
  • Manage purchase price variance (PPV) to meet or exceed annual business plan goals.
  • Determine and manage technical and commercial productivity projects to achieve annual business plan cost reduction goals.
  • Design and implement a robust commodity strategy to improve the supply base, adjusting supplier count and capabilities as required for current and projected future business.
  • Prepare and administer commercial agreements across the AGEC supplier community.
  • Explore the marketplace to discover alternative sources of supply for competitive events and as required for new product development initiatives.
  • Manage and maintain the Approved Supplier List (ASL).
  • Ensure compliance with purchasing-related departmental processes as required by ISO9001:2015.
  • Provide oversight of data sharing with the supplier community and ensure drawings, technical specifications, and other information are distributed in strict compliance with non-disclosure agreements and FAR/EAR requirements as required by AGEC’s business.
  • Manage purchased components and raw material inventories per the Master Production Schedule, working with the Materials Management organization. Facilitate proper inbound material strategies with suppliers to achieve inventory goals.
  • Manage Government or Trade Compliance considerations as required within the supply base.
  • Execute lead-time compression strategies and maintain supplier lead-time performance to contract or promise.
  • Facilitate insourcing or outsourcing projects identified by the business within the supply base.
  • Mentor direct reports in development and supporting goals and growth.
  • Partner with Human Resources in interviewing and selecting qualified candidates.
  • Conduct employee annual performance reviews and coaching as needed.
  • Within the department, prepares purchase orders and releases and ensures timely communication and confirmation with suppliers of AGEC’s requirements.
  • Within the department, resolves issues such as shipment errors, missing paperwork, nonconformance paperwork, etc.


What you will need:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Supply Chain Management, or Business Management is required. A Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • Experienced in purchasing direct materials and the overall procurement process.
  • Exposure to enterprise resource planning (ERP) and material replenishment planning (MRP) systems.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting timelines and priorities.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and supplier relations experience.
  • Results-oriented with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach/mentor a team through ongoing change.
  • A minimum of 7 years experience in a Purchasing Management position and a minimum of two years previous experience supervising professional or technical-level direct reports.
  • CPM, APICS, and CPM Certifications are considered a plus.
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Travel up to 10%
