IT PROJECT MANAGER: BALTIMORE, MD


Who Staffing is looking for an IT Project Manager for a full-time, direct hire opportunity with our client in Baltimore, MD.


Job Summary:

The IT Project Manager will work collaboratively internally and with external vendors and/or consultants to manage and execute projects supporting our client’s IT business objectives and strategic priorities. The IT Project Manager will assume primary responsibility for leading and guiding project teams through multiple projects based on the needs and priorities of the organization. The IT Project Manager uses their technical expertise in project management to drive the continuous improvement of project management policies, standards, and procedures. This position will support IT initiatives that require innovative and strategic thinking to increase agility, value, and alignment with client’s strategic goals. The IT Project Manager will be a member of the Leadership Council.


Job Responsibilities:


Project Management

  • Manage approved projects independently and simultaneously as defined by priority based on the needs of the organization.
  • Define project scope and develop project plans and deliverables, inclusive of detailed work plans, schedules, resource plans and status reports.
  • Define, organize, guide, coordinate, monitor, and execute projects with internal business customers under the defined constraints for time, cost, and quality/scope.
  • Execute the following project PMI-defined facilitation and control processes: scope management, time management, cost management, quality management, people management, communications management, project risk management, project procurement management, plan management and project metrics.
  • Provide on-going project status reporting including alignment of schedule, accomplishments, issues, and resolution.
  • Provide support to team members by answering both technical and business-related questions on behalf of the team.
  • Proactively manage technical challenges and risks; work with teams and management to mitigate risks before they become issues.


Project Portfolio & Governance

  • Develop and maintain a project registry portfolio with new or incoming project requests.
  • In partnership with the Senior Vice President of Administration & General Counsel and the Director of IT, coordinate in assessing/scoping and communicating the prioritization of small-scale IT projects.


Relationship Management

  • Develop and communicate project objectives; Inspire and motivate project team members to achieve results.
  • Act as liaison and support between the IT Department and stakeholders within the organization
  • Prepare and communicate project updates regularly with key stakeholders and IT leaders to ensure alignment and support.


Other Functions

  • Support the Senior Vice President of Administration & General Counsel with special projects or initiatives.
  • Keep up to date on current IT and other technology trends in the human services and nonprofit fields through professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.




Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field and a minimum of three years enterprise-wide IT project management experience required; masters’ degree and/or project management credential (such as PMP, Six Sigma certifications, CSM) is a plus
  • Ability to work autonomously, in ambiguous situations with little direction, running toward problems without being asked; solutions oriented
  • Exceptional critical and strategic thinking skills; adept at looking at challenges and executing multi-pronged solutions in collaboration with others in a fast paced, growth oriented, entrepreneurial environment
  • Demonstrated and proven ability to build relationships effecting organizational change, including in situations where there is an indirect management relationship
  • Ability to remain flexible and calm under pressure; adaptive to change as priorities shift, being a model and resource for team members; adhere to deadlines; foster a sense of urgency to do what it takes to get the job done
  • Experience working across cultural, geographic and programmatic lines to align work, solve problems and achieve goals
  • Track record in proposing and successfully implementing improvements to systems, processes and practice
  • Excellent oral and written communications; strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage positive communication in difficult situations and the ability to provide candid/constructive feedback
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and knowledge of outcome systems required
