Job Title: Litigation Paralegal


Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal to join our legal team. The Litigation Paralegal will provide essential support to attorneys during all phases of the litigation process. This role involves managing case files, conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and assisting with trial preparation. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of legal procedures, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities:

1. Assist attorneys with all aspects of case preparation, including organizing case files, drafting pleadings, and preparing discovery requests and responses.

2. Conduct legal research using various resources such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, and online databases to support attorneys in case strategy and preparation.

3. Assist in the review and analysis of documents, including contracts, deposition transcripts, and medical records.

4. Prepare and file legal documents with courts, administrative agencies, and other parties as required.

5. Coordinate and schedule depositions, hearings, and other case-related events.

6. Assist in the preparation of witnesses for depositions and trial testimony.

7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and databases, ensuring all deadlines and requirements are met.

8. Provide administrative support to attorneys, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and handling correspondence.

9. Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing witness binders, and providing courtroom support during proceedings.

10. Collaborate with other members of the legal team to ensure effective case management and workflow.


Qualifications:

  • Looking for someone with strong admin support skills, scheduling, calendaring, pre-bills/time entry, e-filing, legal document experience (editing, formatting). This desk will support 4 attorneys.
  • Proficient knowledge of legal documents, formatting, table of contents and table of authorities, styles, track changes, inserting and labeling pdf documents, and converting pdf documents to Word
  • Strong computer proficiency in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Experience working with a Document Management System (iManage experience a plus)
  • Experience with time entry, e-Filing, and database software
  • Experience opening files and running conflict checks
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; demonstrated understanding of correct grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Ability to work effectively and proactively within a team environment
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks concurrently and to meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail
