Dynamic team at a fast-growing MedTech start-up in the San Francisco Bay Area. You will play a key role in the design, development, and testing of innovative medical devices, working closely with a multidisciplinary team including mechanical design engineers, embedded software engineers, and a broad range of clinicians and medical professionals.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Circuit Design & Development: Design, develop, and test electronic circuits for medical devices, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Schematic Capture & PCB Layout: Use Altium Designer for schematic capture, PCB layout, and the creation of detailed manufacturing files for production.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical design engineers to ensure seamless integration of electronics into device enclosures and housings.
  • Embedded Systems Support: Collaborate with embedded software engineers to integrate firmware with hardware, ensuring smooth and reliable device operation.
  • Prototyping: Develop and test prototypes, using both traditional methods and rapid prototyping tools, to evaluate design feasibility and performance.
  • Testing & Validation: Perform rigorous testing and validation of electronic systems, identifying and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of designs, including schematics, BOMs, test protocols, and validation reports.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with relevant medical device regulations and standards, including IEC 60601 and FDA guidelines.
  • Clinical Collaboration: Work alongside clinicians and medical professionals to understand user needs and translate them into technical specifications and design requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest advancements in electronics, medical technology, and relevant regulatory changes to continually improve product designs.


Qualifications:


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in electronics engineering, preferably within the medical device or healthcare technology industry.


Skills:


  • Proficiency in Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design.
  • Experience with embedded systems, including microcontrollers and interfacing.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards for medical devices (e.g., IEC 60601).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex electronic systems.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams, particularly with mechanical and software engineers.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of rapid prototyping and testing methods.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with low-power design for portable medical devices.
  • Familiarity with signal processing and sensor integration.
  • Experience in medical device product lifecycle, from concept through to commercialization (ideally FDA approval)
