Senior Financial Operations SpecialistGalapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Financial Operations Specialist to deliver advanced financial management and operational support in alignment with Department of Defense (DoD) programs and enterprise initiatives. The Senior Specialist will play a critical role in providing expert analysis, oversight, and execution of financial operations to ensure compliance, efficiency, and strategic alignment. Responsibilities include driving financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and performance measurement to support both program-level and enterprise objectives. Working closely with senior leadership, program managers, and cross-functional teams, the Senior Financial Operations Specialist will help shape decision-making processes, optimize resource allocation, and ensure financial integrity across operations. This position is ideal for an individual with strong analytical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence in financial and operational management.Skills / Experience8+ years of experience in financial operations or related functional areas, preferably within DoD or federal programsProven expertise in budget formulation, execution, and financial reportingStrong knowledge of DoD financial management systems, processes, and regulationsExperience supporting projects within one or more of the MDoDS functional areas of sustainment, maintenance, and life cycle support (preferred)Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insightsStrong communication skills, with experience preparing and presenting reports to senior leadershipAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial management tools, and enterprise reporting systemsExperience mentoring, training, or guiding less-experienced financial staffLead and oversee financial operations, including planning, budgeting, execution, and reportingConduct in-depth financial analysis to support decision-making and ensure program and project compliance with DoD standardsTrack, monitor, and reconcile expenditures, ensuring alignment with established budgets and funding sourcesPrepare financial statements, status reports, and audit documentation as requiredProvide recommendations for process improvements, cost savings, and risk mitigation strategiesCoordinate with program managers, contracting officers, and leadership to align financial operations with project objectivesEnsure compliance with applicable federal regulations, DoD financial policies, and internal controlsMentor and provide guidance to junior financial staff to strengthen team capabilitiesEducation / CertificationsBachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related fieldMaster's degree in a relevant discipline (preferred)Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) (preferred)Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) (preferred)Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (preferred)DoD FM Certification (Levels II/III as applicable) (preferred)BenefitsMedical, dental, vision, disability, and life insuranceFlexible Spending Accounts401(k)PTOPaid Parental leaveTuition reimbursementPaid federal holidaysSecurity ClearanceActive TS/SCI Clearance.
