Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lab Manager to oversee our cannabis extraction laboratory operations. The Lab Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and compliant production of high-quality cannabis extracts, while fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and teamwork.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the cannabis extraction laboratory, including but not limited to extraction processes, equipment maintenance, and personnel management.
  • Accountable for ensuring the Extraction Team and Laboratory Staff meet the demand, quantity, and quality of output in-line with Company objectives through the development of Extraction Run scheduling and execution of post-processing.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for extraction processes, ensuring compliance with state and local regulations.
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance, including safety, environmental and document control requirements
  • Optimize extraction methods to maximize yield, potency, and purity of cannabis extracts while minimizing production costs and waste.
  • Manage inventory of raw materials, consumables, and finished products, and coordinate procurement as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to strict quality control standards, conducting regular testing and analysis of extracts to verify potency, purity, and consistency.
  • Train and mentor lab technicians on extraction techniques, safety protocols, compliance requirements, and best practices.
  • Oversee scheduling, performance evaluations, and professional development of lab technicians to optimize team performance and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development, research initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ability to resolve any conflict respectfully and in a timely manner, addressing and resolving problems in order to create a culture of engagement and high-performance
  • Supports the organization by ensuring operations efficiency by implementing and constantly improving cost reduction strategies
  • Be able to achieve mutually agreed goals/KPI’s for the company.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field, or related experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cannabis extraction, with at least 2-3 years in a management role.
  • Familiarity with OSHA guidelines for dealing with hazardous chemicals
  • In-depth knowledge of cannabis extraction techniques, equipment (e.g., CO2, ethanol, hydrocarbon systems), and best practices.
  • Familiarity with state and local regulations governing cannabis extraction and laboratory operations (e.g., California Cannabis Manufacturing Regulations).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a focus on safety and quality.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Salary - $66,560 annually
