Job Summary: The Bell Persons core activity is to assist and service the guest. Generally speaking the Bell Person does this by transporting and storing luggage. While doing this the Bell Person must exhibit 5star service and etiquette. The Bell people are also responsible for delivering packages and transporting other items in the hotel. At all times the bell people should be focused on the guests and creating an experience for the people visiting the hotel.
Primary Duties:
- Transporting luggage
- Loading luggage into vehicles
- Welcoming guests as they enter the property
- Wishing guests farewell as they leave the property
- Directing guests
- Answering guests with questions in the public areas
- Actively engaging guests
- Introducing guests to the property
- Storing luggage in Bell Closet
- Assisting groups at checkin and check out
- Informing and assisting guests with the operation of the elevators
- Assist in Guest Recovery efforts when necessary
Secondary Duties:
- Keeping Bell Closet clean and organized
- Cleaning bell carts and ensuring they are in good working order
- Shinning guest shoes when requested
- Delivering packages and envelopes to guest rooms
- Delivering documents or letters to rooms when requested by Management
- Purchasing items on behalf of guests at stores within a 1 block radius.
- Helping to keep public areas tidy at all times
Typical Working Conditions:
Spends large amount of time on feet and constant walking. Spends about 25% of shift in driveway and during the summer season will be exposed to Hot weather. Required to lift luggage frequently and also push and pull a heavy bell cart.
Essential Physical Tasks:
Standing for long periods constantly lifting bags ranging in weight from heavy to light pushing and pulling heavy luggage carts weighing luggage for guests organizing and cleaning bell closets cleaning bell carts assisting guests with questions in the public areas escorting guests when asked for directions.
Qualifications :
- Prior customer service experience
- Fluent English Language
- Knowledge of the luxury hotel environment
- Safe lifting techniques
- Attention to Detail
- Vehicle Loading
- Storage room organization
- Warm and welcoming demeanor
- Foreign Language Skills (preferred but not required)
