Senior Benefits Specialist

PharmaCann, Inc. owns and operates best-in-class production facilities and retail dispensaries for cannabis-based products. We currently operate in the States of Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Colorado and Michigan as a medical and/or adult use cannabis provider to patients and customers. Job Summary
The Sr Benefits Analyst is responsible for administration of employee benefits in all company operations. As needed, this position provides special guidance and assistance to all locations on various employee benefit plans. This position develops, recommends, and installs approved, new, or modified plans and employee benefits policies and supervises administration of existing plans consistent with regulatory requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and implement benefit programs, policies, and procedures
- Conduct individual benefit meetings with new employees and instructs employees on enrollment and rules surrounding benefits
- Oversee the administration and maintenance of the new hire benefit enrollment process, including enrolling employees with the various carriers and ensuring the appropriate documentation is received and filed
- Respond to benefit related inquiries from employees and coordinates mid-year changes to benefits, including qualifying events and address changes
- Oversee administration of benefit termination process
- Reconcile insurance invoices and payments and research and resolve any errors and discrepancies
- Conduct annual open enrollment process
- Administer Workers’ Compensation claims management, issuing and obtaining claim paperwork and data entry to salary spreadsheets, and reviewing and approving invoices
- Administer benefit plans, comprising of medical, dental, vision, flexible spending, and voluntary benefits in United States and Canada; Includes enrolling employees with various carriers and ensuring the appropriate documentation is received and filed
- Manage all aspects of the various leave of absence programs (i.e., FMLA, ADA, short-term disability, long-term disability, workers compensation, medical, personal, unpaid, and military leaves)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field
- 4-7 years’ experience in benefits administration
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- HRIS experience required (Wurk or UKG preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of work and multi-task
- Ability to work independently or in a group
- Ensure policy and statutory compliance with provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) Employment Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), Consolidated Omnibus budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), and Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
