Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Golf Course General Manager. The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the golf course, including managing staff, maintaining the course and facilities, food and beverage management, organizing events and tournaments, and ensuring a positive experience for members and guests. This role requires strong leadership, organization, and communication skills. The Golf Course General Manager will report directly to the company's leadership.


Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Extensive knowledge of golf course management and operations
  • Experience with irrigation systems and maintenance
  • Familiarity with golf equipment and maintenance
  • Strong customer service skills and a passion for creating exceptional experiences
  • Proven leadership abilities and the ability to manage a team
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred
  • Golf course management or business related degree is a plus


Responsibilities


Hiring and Supervision

·       Hiring and training staff, including department managers and employees

·       Providing guidance, feedback and discipline as needed

·       Ensuring adequate training and experience for all employees

·       Foster a success oriented and accountable environment


Course Operations

·       Monitoring facilities’ physical condition and making necessary improvements

·       Ensuring the pro shop is adequately stocked and lessons/classes meet the guest’s needs

·       Overseeing course maintenance and groundskeeping

·       Understand and utilize point of sale and inventory control systems to full capacity


Public Relations

·       Building and maintaining a strong base of clientele

·       Promote golf, and specifically the club, foster hospitality, friendliness and goodwill amongst all staff and guests

·       Setting fees and responding to guest feedback and complaints

·       Ensuring player rules and regulations are followed at all times


Financial Management

·       Managing budgets and finances to ensure the course’s financial stability

·       Following accounting procedures as prescribed by the President and CFO

·       Making decisions to optimize revenue and minimize expenses

·       Ensure all systems and controls are in place to produce accurate monthly financial reports and to ensure the safekeeping of assets, inventory and resources


Communication and Leadership

·       Communicating effectively with staff, guests, vendors, and stakeholders

·       Leading by example and fostering a positive work environment

·       Developing and implementing strategies to improve course operations and guest satisfaction


Marketing and Promotional Activities

·       Coordinating marketing, booking, and hosting events such as tournaments, charity events and open houses to promote the course as a premier destination for golf enthusiasts

·       Maintain a strong online presence, including managing the course’s website and social media

·       Develop promotions and packages that drive revenue and increase guest satisfaction
