Nesco Resource is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator for one of our top clients in the Rochester area. This is a contract position, to support the current EH&S Manager. If interested apply today
Pay Rate: $20-$26/hr
Schedule: M-F: 8am-5pm
Type: Contract
Summary: Responsible for analyzing data trends in EHS data to ensure compliance, provide and/or coordinate EHS training, update procedures, perform job hazard/PPE assessments, audit regulatory programs, and provide support to senior EHS team members as needed. Implement and update EHS programs and management systems. Assist in waste reduction/pollution prevention activities and permitting activities as needed and assist in review and improvements of EHS programs and procedures to support RED-Rochester and drive operational excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Environmental Compliance:
- Monitor environmental impact, including waste management and pollution control.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
- Title-V Air Permits and requirements
- RCRA/Hazardous Waste Generator Requirements
- SPDES Permits and requirements.
- Chemical and Petroleum Bulk Storage requirements
- Ensure compliance with safety programs and regulations.
- Lock Out/Tag Out
- Confined Space
- Electrical Safety/NFPA 70E
- Fall Protection
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments.
- Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct EHS training sessions for employees.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the organization.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes.
- Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
- Coordinate drills and exercises to ensure preparedness.
- Maintain accurate EHS records and documentation.
- Prepare reports and metrics to track EHS performance.
- Stay updated on new EHS regulations and best practices.
- Recommend improvements to EHS programs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field such as Biology, Environmental Science or Chemistry preferred; Minimum of 3 years of experience in an industrial safety role.
- Professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH) is preferred.
- 4-7 years’ experience in EHS roles, preferably in an industrial or utility setting.
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to conduct training and presentations.
- Analytical skills for risk assessment and problem-solving.
- Proficiency in EHS management systems and software.
