Research and analyze the state of video playback hardware and software as it applies to the latest EGM cabinets and games. Identify and understand CPU and GPU hardware currently in use and determine if more optimal playback efficiency and quality can be achieved using different technology configurations through acquiring relevant test harnesses and running different video codecs. As an intern, your daily activities may include researching modern video decoding algorithms and hardware acceleration compatibility in current CPU iGPU and discrete GPU hardware and document findings, researching codec compatibility in modern hardware and software platforms, building and testing features/optimizations in video codec performance tool on Windows using C/C++, porting performance measuring tool to other platforms. (e.g. Linux, macOS, mobile), and/or testing and document video playback performance on different hardware and software configurations.
