The Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit is responsible for the following:


Responsibilities

  • Ensure optimal patient care utilizing the nursing process and utilizing computerized charting.
  • Administers and controls narcotics, medications and IV therapies in accordance with the RN Nurse Practice Act and TRH policies.
  • Maintains patient records and documents to ensure an accurate record of the patient's medical and nursing care.
  • Communicates and coordinates education and discharge needs with appropriate personnel to ensure that patient's discharge needs are met and resources are available.
  • Demonstrates competencies in nursing skills based on current information.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of emergency situations, recognizing and responding appropriately.
  • Recognizes all hospital emergency codes and initiates appropriate interventions as deemed necessary.
  • Participates in departmental and hospital wide quality improvement, adhering to protocols for collecting and recording data.
  • Supports an environment conductive to professional practice by functioning as a role model and resource person.
  • Takes responsibility for attendance and reliability.
  • Maintains security of nursing area and ensure privacy through HIPAA regulations.
  • Demonstrates competence with advanced monitoring equipment, i.e., CVP, Arterial Line, external and transvenous pacers.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in recognizing cardiac rhythms; both normal and life threatening and the appropriate treatment of each.
  • Demonstrates understanding of advanced airway support and ventilation assistance, and the appropriate care of this population of patients.


Qualifications

  • Must be a Registered Nurse with current licensure in the state of Kentucky
  • CPR and ACLS Certification
  • 1-2 years of nursing experience preferred


Full Time positions available.
