PURPOSE:

Under the direction of the Director Distribution and Logistics, the Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for the operation and staff of the distribution center to ensure maximum efficiency and profitability. Responsible for all functions of the New Berlin distribution center over multiple shifts including shipping, receiving, inventory control, safety, scheduling, quality, productivity, administering policies and programs and maintaining supplies.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Understands, upholds, and communicates the company’s guiding principles of culture, teamwork, continuous improvement, results, and customer focus.

2. Maintains a high level of personal knowledge of all company policies and procedures and acts as a trainer and resource for other employees.

3. Develops written policies and procedures to ensure the effective, efficient, and safe operations of the New Berlin distribution center. In collaboration with subject matter experts, prepares written manual(s) articulating operating policies and procedures consistent with OSHA standards, trains staff on these policies and procedures, and enforces them.

4. Develops and documents standard operating procedures for receiving, handling, storing, shipping, or salvaging products or materials.

5. Defines business continuity plans for core processes.

6. Plans, develops, and implements warehouse safety and security programs and activities.

7. Maintains work environment that is safe, secure and in compliance with government laws, DOT, OSHA, and company policies. Ensures all team members utilize best practices of safety and procedure in the execution of their work.

8. Develops and implements plans for equipment purchases, automation, changes in space allocation, or structural design.

9. Ensures facility is clean, organized, properly maintained and free of OSHA violations.

10. Maintains inventory of all warehouse equipment; develops and implements an on-going maintenance plan. Maintains charging stations for powered vehicles.

11. Updates, Monitors, and communicates scorecards and metrics performance to the team.

12. Responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, minimizing damage, and controlling shrinkage. Fully understands inventory processes, analyzes root cause of inventory discrepancies, and works to continuously improve all disciplines to meet KPI objectives.

13. Determines the most efficient use of resources, including manpower levels, equipment, processes and procedures in order to continuously reduce error rates, improve delivery and accuracy of product to the customer in order to maximize customer satisfaction.

14. Supports department initiatives and continuous improvement that aligns with our company strategy and key performance metrics.

15. Recommend and implement changes to production methods or material handling procedures.

16. Develops labor strategies that are in alignment with functional and business priorities.

17. Confers with other internal departments such as customer service, sales, and purchasing to coordinate distribution center activities.

18. Responds to customers' or shippers' questions and complaints regarding storage and distribution services.

19. Participates in budget planning, management of specific budget items, and reporting of department activities.

20. Gathers and delivers information in a timely manner and communicates effectively at all levels in the organization. Conducts daily and/or weekly team meetings with warehouse supervisors and employees as appropriate.

21. Conducts performance reviews, both formal and informal, to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the staff. Manages performance issues in a consistent and fair manner.

22. Ensures all policies and work rules are followed and implemented consistently to ensure a workplace free of discrimination and labor law violations:

23. Ensures all accident report procedures and investigations are properly followed. Ensures corrective actions are completed as required.

24. Complies with all environmental regulations regarding the handling, storage, testing and disposal of hazardous and dangerous materials.

25. Interviews, hires, and supervises warehouse supervisors and leads. Assists with staffing as needed.

26. Ensure safety meetings and audits are conducted to help maintain the goal of zero lost time accidents.

27. Participates in accident investigations as needed. Ensures corrective actions are completed as required.


MARGINAL DUTIES:

1. Assist with general housekeeping of the warehouse area.

2. Assist functional areas with completion of work tasks.

3. Other duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· High School Diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelor’s degree in materials management or supply chain is preferred.

· 8 or more years’ experience in warehouse operations.


OTHER KSAs

· Knowledge of OSHA regulations relative to warehouse operations.

· Current valid driver license with acceptable driving record.

· Proficient computer skills. Prefer prior ERP materials management experience.

· Analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Mentoring, coaching, and training skills required.

· Ability to work independently and prioritize work.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, management, supervisory, and interpersonal skills.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position supervises warehouse supervisors.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work environment includes exposure to dust and variances in temperature due to the warehouse atmosphere. Will also be regularly exposed to fragrances and odors that come from the storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment. The noise level is moderate.
