Engineering Manager - Municipal Water/Wastewater Treatment

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Engineering Manager to join our client's team in Walnut Creek, California. The firm is committed to providing exceptional service to our clients while fostering a collaborative and dynamic work environment.


The successful candidate will oversee the technical execution of design projects, manage project timelines and budgets, foster client relationships, and support the development of our engineering staff. This role requires a seasoned professional with at least 10 years of experience in municipal water and wastewater treatment and a valid California Professional Engineer (PE) license. This hybrid role involves a blend of remote and on-site work.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the technical execution of municipal water and wastewater treatment design projects.
  • Ensure projects meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.
  • Provide expert guidance on complex engineering challenges.
  • Develop and manage project plans, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
  • Foster strong, long-term relationships with existing and potential clients.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the municipal water and wastewater sector.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Provide training and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages innovation and excellence.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in municipal water and wastewater treatment engineering.
  • Valid California Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Proven experience in project management, including planning, execution, and budget management.
  • Strong technical knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, regulations, and standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools.
