Our contracts span the Pacific Northwest and the West Coast, encompassing the western states. We are looking for talented individuals who are enthusiastic and ready to travel to various job sites. As part of your role, travel is expected and required. This is a field position, and you will be responsible for working at various sites as necessary, including locations in multiple states.Job Summary: A successful HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) Locator plays a crucial role in trenchless operations. They are specially trained to use advanced electronics to accurately navigate the drill stem, ensuring precise drilling for rigs from companies like Vermeer and Ditch Witch. Their expertise helps in avoiding underground obstacles and achieving efficient, safe drilling.What You'll DoResponsibilities:Operate HDD locating equipment for installation of underground cable conduit or utilitiesEnsure proper steering based on the noted job preparations and projectionsKnowledgeable in locating to provide bend radius for steel pipeAble to strictly adhere to tolerances provided on engineered profilesMaintain bore profile plots and provide customer with directional drilling dataAssist in locating and planning bores around existing utilitiesAssist with all aspects of the job including basic labor responsibilitiesMaintain professionalism with the public, customers, and crewObtain prints & permits for all assigned jobs from Supervisor or customerSetup & cleanup of the worksite, plan for no return tripsWhat You'll BringQualifications:Prior HDD locator experienceOperate DCI or Underground Magnetics locate systemsExperience with wireline locate systems is a plusPrior drill crew experience preferredMust be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background checkA good driving record is requiredComprehension of ground conditions for drilling, boring, and/or locatingBasic knowledge of and ability to hand tools and equipment in a safe mannerClass A Commercial Driver's License is REQUIREDAbility to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.Willing and able to work in all weather conditionsAble to lift/carry 50 lbs regularlyTRAVEL IS REQUIREDPreferred QualificationsPrevious construction experience, preferably in the telecom or pipeline industryKnowledge of established Horizontal/Directional Drill Locator procedures and techniquesAbility to perform Horizontal/Directional Drill Locator procedures and dutiesWorking ConditionsThis is a full-time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. This position operates in an outdoor environment and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including; extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high wind. The outside work environment will vary throughout the day including changes in terrain, traffic, urban settings, and/or rural settings. This position may occasionally be exposed to natural gas and to the risk of electrical shock. Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels.Physical RequirementsThe employee will need to have the ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 12 hours at a time), tolerate work in extreme weather conditions, speak and hear worksite safety instructions, withstand prolonged and repeated: lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching and feeling, crouching, and crawling.
