Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Test Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Test Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our Autonomous Underwater Vehicles. You will design and execute test plans, analyze test results, and collaborate closely with our engineering and development teams to drive continuous improvement. An ideal candidate has a software background and will be able to contribute directly towards software updates and enhancements as a result of testing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Test Planning & Execution: Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and procedures for AUVs, including hardware, software, PID tuning, and integrated systems tests.
- Data Analysis: Analyze test data and results to identify issues, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
- Issue Diagnosis: Work closely with engineering teams to diagnose and troubleshoot issues discovered during testing, and provide actionable recommendations for resolution.
- Test Environment Management: Set up and maintain test environments, including underwater test tanks, simulation platforms, and field testing setups.
- Documentation & Reporting: Document test procedures, results, and findings. Prepare detailed test reports and communicate results to stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software engineers, mechanical engineers, and system designers to ensure successful product development and launch.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the development and refinement of testing processes and methodologies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of testing operations.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
- Experience: Proven industry experience in testing and quality assurance, preferably within the robotics, aerospace, or marine technology sectors. Candidates should have a background heavy with software experience, particularly Python, C++, & ROS. Candidates should be familiar with common mechanical and electrical assembly practices and proper use of common tools and equipment.
Skills:
- Proficiency in test planning, execution, and data analysis.
- Familiarity with underwater testing environments and equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of programming languages and test automation tools.
- USCG Captain's License or significant boating experience is a plus
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Previous experience with Nominal is a plus
