We are currently looking for a mechanical engineer who is capable of designing automatic assembly machines, from initial concept to design completion.


  • Set and maintain departmental goals in keeping with company objectives.
  • Review design concepts, layouts, assembly and detail drawings, schematics, and bills of materials to be used in producing custom machinery
  • Extensive knowledge of electromechanical relationships and strong knowledge of machine timing
  • Prepare and monitor workload schedules for mechanical engineers, to optimize efficiency and design simplification, and ensure compliance with project schedules.
  • Assign work and provide technical direction to mechanical engineers.
  • Monitor new vendor products and new technologies to continually advance BBS Automation product portfolio.
  • Along with the Engineering Manager, interview and select new engineers.
  • Lead the development of mechanical designs for large multiple module system and the engineering team.
  • Program control systems for cam, servo, and air operated stations, along with test and electrical devices.
  • Ensure the design is functional, robust, and cost effective.
  • Innovate and use good judgment to incorporate BBS Automation standards, GAMP5 and regulatory requirements.
  • Research and specify appropriate purchased and preferred components evaluating quality, and analyzing price and availability with regard to budget and schedule
  • Participate in internal and customer design reviews, and applications customer visits when needed.
  • Support mechanical Commissioning and Qualification (C&Q) requirements.
  • Work with suppliers to find/develop the most functional and economical solutions to design issues.
  • Work under the confines of the project schedule and budget.
  • Problem-solve with Mechanical Builders, debug design issues, and update all appropriate documentation.
  • Communicate ideas and comprehend information both verbally and in written form.
  • Work closely with Controls Engineering and Build and exhibit objectivity and openness to others views.


Qualifications

B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience

At least 5 years experience in assembly automation

Fluent in the use of 3D CAD (SolidWorks); working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD is a plus
