Amphibious Ship Systems Lead Engineer

This position provides direct support to the LPD 17 Class Ship Design Manager in the area of Mission Systems design.


Responsibilities

Position responsibilities include:

  • Develop and review designs for handling and stowage systems for Mission Modules, Cargo/Ammunition (Ground), Aviation Ammunition, Stores, United States Marine Corps (USMC) Vehicles and Unmanned Vehicles, Vessels of Opportunity, Unmanned Combat Air System (UCAS) including vehicle ancillary services in sufficient detail to provide arrangements, weight, and cost data.
  • Assist in the development/defining of systems requirements in the context of missions, taking into consideration of available design trade space to allow for more effective design tradeoffs.
  • Collaborate with other Lead Engineers for HM&E and C5I systems in overall ship design.
  • Work closely with NAVSEA Technical Warrant Holders to ensure Mission Systems comply with Navy design requirements.
  • Work with the shipbuilder to develop effective and affordable solutions to Mission Systems engineering challenges.


Qualifications

Qualifications for the position include;

  • Bachelors degree in an Engineering field. (Masters degree preferred.)
  • 15+ years of experience in U.S. Navy ship design or related engineering positions.
  • Experience working on Amphibious Ships. (Prior active duty Marine Corps or Navy experience preferred.)
  • Current DoD security clearance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to effectively work in a hybrid work environment.
