Nursing Supervisor

Hours: 8:00 - 5:00 Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
The Pediatric Public Health Nurse Supervisor will perform professional work involving the direction of the pediatric programs in a local health department. Programs include Child Health, Pediatric Primary Care, and Triage. The Supervisor will plan, organize and direct activities of staff and programs while being responsible for the supervisory, fiscal and technical components of various programs. The PHN Supervisor will monitor the trends in the community served and adjust programs as needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
Supervise staff
Manage programs
Administer vaccines and medications
Perform and assist with minor procedures
Interview patients
Follow policies/procedures and standing orders
Assist in budget management
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in nursing and administrative experience in a healthcare setting; an Associate's degree in nursing with experience in pediatrics; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience in pediatrics and 2 years of supervisory experience. Fluency in English and Spanish preferred.
Licensure: Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina. Current CPR certification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of and skill in the application of nursing theory, practices, principles, and techniques employed in the field of public health and related programs
Considerable knowledge of and skill in obtaining a health history and performing physical examinations
Knowledge of and ability to apply the principles and practices of public health
Strong knowledge of current social and economic problems relating to healthcare
Knowledge of resources and organizations
