The Rhode Island Bar Association is seeking a dynamic and organized individual to join our team as the Lawyer Referral Service Coordinator. In this role, you will play a vital part in connecting clients with the legal services they need through our Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) program.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Client Screening & Intake: Assess client needs and refer them to appropriate legal professionals.
- Case Referral: Manage and oversee the referral process from initial contact to case follow-up.
- Community Outreach & Events: Help plan and implement public service events and community outreach programs.
- Communications: Draft correspondence, prepare outreach materials, and assist with communications to the membership and the public.
- Program Management: Handle all tasks related to the LRS program, including fee collection, panel member communication, and statistical record maintenance.
Desired Qualifications:
- Public Service Orientation: A sincere interest in working with the public across all economic levels.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with a professional demeanor and strong personal integrity.
- Communication: Superior written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.
- Judgment & Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Adaptability: Quick learner with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to new challenges.
- Technical Proficiency: Extensive knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Language Skills: Knowledge of Spanish is a plus but not required.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred; a background in public service is highly preferred.
