Position Overview: The Transmission Line Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, and implementation of transmission line projects. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that transmission line systems are designed to meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with specific expertise in transmission line design and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and analyze transmission line systems, including the selection of structures, conductors, and insulation.
- Prepare detailed engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for transmission line projects.
- Perform structural analysis of transmission line components using software tools and engineering principles.
- Conduct field assessments and surveys to gather data for design and construction purposes.
- Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including design calculations, technical reports, and as-built drawings.
- Provide technical support during the construction and maintenance phases of transmission line projects.
- Participate in the review and approval of contractor submittals and shop drawings.
- Stay current with industry trends, advancements in transmission line technology, and regulatory changes, and apply this knowledge to improve project outcomes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance design practices, project efficiency, and system reliability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 3-7 years of experience in transmission line engineering, including design, analysis, and project management.
- Strong knowledge of transmission design principles, industry standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., NESC, IEEE, ANSI).
- Proficiency in engineering software tools for transmission line design and analysis (e.g., PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a detail-oriented approach to work.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
