Job Summary:

We are seeking a talented and motivated IoT Engineer with 1-2 years of experience to join our innovative team in the water utility industry. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of IoT technologies, experience with sensor integration, data acquisition, and analysis. This role involves working on the development, implementation, and maintenance of IoT systems aimed at optimizing water utility operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. IoT System Development and Integration:
  • Design and develop IoT solutions tailored for water utility applications.
  • Integrate various sensors and devices to collect data from water distribution systems, treatment plants, and other utility infrastructure.
  • Ensure seamless communication between IoT devices and central data systems.
  • Develop firmware for LoRaWan and Cellular devices for integration with the application layers and database.
  • Debug IoT hardware for any connectivity or inaccurate Analog to digital readings.
  • Implement Dashboards for IoT devices using cross-platform integrations with varying network brokers and API’s.


  1. Data Management and Analysis:
  • Implement data acquisition systems to gather real-time data from IoT devices.
  • Store and manage IoT data configuration for document-based databases.
  • Develop API’s and trigger for data forwarding and gathering into the database.
  • Develop algorithms and processes for data cleansing, validation, and analysis.
  • Use data analytics to provide actionable insights for improving water utility operations and efficiency.
  1. System Monitoring and Maintenance:
  • Monitor the performance of deployed IoT systems to ensure reliability and accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain an IoT alert system for text, emails, and calls. 
  • Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting to resolve any issues with IoT devices and networks.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to ensure cybersecurity measures are in place and adhered to.
  1. Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with other engineers, data scientists, and utility managers to understand requirements and deliver effective IoT solutions.
  • Prepare technical documentation and reports for stakeholders.
  • Communicate with the Hardware manufacturers and review the technical datasheets.
  • Provide training and support to team members and end-users on the use of IoT systems and tools.
  1. Innovation and Improvement:
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in IoT technology and propose innovative solutions for the water utility sector.
  • Research new transducers and sensors for integrations based on customer requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and utility operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in IoT engineering or a related role.
  • Experience in the water utility industry is highly preferable.
  • Knowledge of IoT networks such as LoRaWan, NB-IoT, Cellular LTE, backhaul 4g and 3g, Bluetooth and WiFi.
  • Familiarity with Embedded system protocols such as SPI, I2C, ADC, and RS 485.
  • Proficiency in IoT protocols such as MQTT, CoAP, or similar.
  • Experience with SCADA systems [PCLs’s and Middleware SCADA infrastructure ] is a plus.
  • Knowledge of sensor technologies and data acquisition systems.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, node.js, C/C++, or Java.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and IoT platforms (ThingWorx, IBM Watson, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of API’s REST and Web sockets.
  • Familiarity with integrations with Alert systems such as Twillio, and WIN 911 is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Knowledge of machine learning and AI techniques.
  • Understanding of water utility operations and challenges.
  • Certification in IoT or related fields.
