Job Details

  • Job Description:
  • An engineer to lead the design & development of hydraulic sealing systems and all associated sub-components such as piston, rod, wiper seals and cylinder seal kits for Caterpillar products. The successful candidate will be highly engaged with the global product development team to deliver world class sealing products for all hydraulic components, optimized for customer requirements. The position requires complimentary technical, commercial and project leadership skills to complete tasks such as defining application and component requirements, developing project plans, compile design data and complete detailed drawings, and coordinating validation plans with supplier or CAT teams who will conduct the work. Job responsibilities may also involve leading team meetings, completing technical reports, and conducting part inspections to ensure design met customer requirements, risks are mitigated, technical information is reviewed and archived, documenting conclusions & recommendations in design reviews, and providing updates in team stakeholder meetings.
  • Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Design responsibility for hydraulic sealing products across the enterprise; accountable for meeting customer expectations for product cost, quality, and delivery (for example)
  • Contribute to multiple New Product Introduction (NPI) development projects, New Technology Integration (NTI) projects, and product cost/quality improvement projects
  • Conduct Concept and Detailed Design Reviews with the Global Engineering teams
  • Collaborate with the Global/Regional purchasing and manufacturing facility teams to support the product velocity, quality & cost targets, conduct supplier process audits, evaluate sourcing, and complete PPAP/APQP process validation tasks
  • Troubleshoot field failures, Warranty claims, factory issues. Complete parts analysis and technical reports as needed.
  • Responsible for supporting a design control with detailed drawing releases, maintenance, conduct continuous product and process development and coordination with PSLD on seal kit solutions.
  • Align hydraulic sealing initiatives across product groups, suppliers, and manufacturing process partners
  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Education - Bachelor's degree or higher in accredited Engineering field (preferably Polymer/Chemical)
  • Experience – 2+ years of polymer industry experience
  • Top candidates will have:
  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Engineering curriculum
  • Strong analytical skills & experience in components to meet performance, cost and quality requirements.
  • Experience in Project management, Tolerance Stack-up, and GD&T
  • The ability to effectively develop and manage project plans from concept to production
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and process partners
  • Application knowledge of mining and construction equipment
  • Familiarity with polymer suppliers and manufacturing processes
  • The ability to work/lead multiple projects simultaneously and to make sound priority decisions
  • A sense of urgency balanced with a strong commitment to quality
  • Due to collaboration with global product development teams, available for flexible work hours
