JOB SUMMARY
The Estimator is responsible for the development of bids based on drawings, customer specifications, and cost estimation requirements. They may visit job sites to gather information and analyze proposals, specifications, blueprints, and construction documents in order to understand the project.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepare work to be estimated by gathering documents, specifications, and related documents and applying industry standard codes and specifications (calculations & drawings)
- Utilize tools and industry best practices to estimate equipment, labor, material, and subcontractors required for the job and coordinate input from other departments to develop cost estimates based on customer requirements
- Assemble the required bid package documents in advance of bid due date
- Participates in building and overseeing the budget for bid projects and prepares price change orders
- Develop cost estimates for bids and contract revisions, and prepare request for quotations for purchasing components, and cost analysis
- Perform project control management as it is related to cost functions and formats and maintain thorough records of all project documents
- Responsible for the administration of inquiry documents, scope of work, and schedule related to job
- Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies (including client’s) while promoting the Company’s safety culture
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ of experience in job related duties in industrial construction
- Working knowledge of applicable construction codes, policies, standards, and best practices
- Proficient knowledge in industrial construction industry standards and project management
- Must have a valid, unexpired driver's license
- Ability to work in multiple disciple projects
KEY SKILLS
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and employees at all levels
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents such as scopes of work, and project schedule
- Strong math skills and be proficient in use of US customary unit’s ft., in., lbs., psi, etc.
- Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities
- Strong analytical skills required to understand and interpret data and complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams)
- Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Will work in an office and job site setting (indoors/outdoors)
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
- Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity
- Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Frequently communicate with other members of the team. Must be able to exchange accurate information in a clear manner.
- Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 25 pounds.
