Role: Director of Big Data/Risk and Compliance

Location: HYBRID - onsite 3x per week - Phoenix, AZ or NYC

Salary: base + 20% fixed target bonus + stock (sign on bonus can be considered for candidates needing to relocate)

  • Phoenix base: up to 212k
  • NYX base: up to $250k

Work Authorization: open no restrictions

Travel: occasionally up to 3x per year


Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science/Engineering and 12+ years of experience in related fields.
  • Experience with Risk Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA), Operational Risk Management and Enterprise Risk Management.
  • GRC/IRM/RCSA platforms and tools (Archer, ServiceNow, AuditBoard, MetricStream, etc) and experience in their integration with custom engineering solutions.
  • Experience with the following Technologies: Java, Python, SQL, Big Data Queries
  • Experience with Platforms including Google's GCP big data platform.
  • Shown expertise in building and optimizing large-scale, data-intensive platforms and orchestrating migrations from legacy platforms.
  • People leadership experience. An ability to evaluate team structures and optimize them against delivery goals and objectives.
  • Experience in services-based architecture and applications.
  • Experience in driving engineering excellence in the areas of coding standards, code reviews, testing practices, CI/CD pipelines and adoption of DevOps standard processes.
  • Understanding of regulatory challenges related to IRM and their impact on technology platforms.


Pluses:

  • Previous experience with Technical Risk, Anti Money Laundering, or Fraud experience
  • Previous experience working in Banking/Financial Industry or within Big 4
  • Previous experience with categorization


DAY TO DAY:

This is a net new role for the Division of Global Risk and Compliance Tech. This role will act as the 2nd and 3rd line of defense for Global Risk and Compliance, integrated risk and compliance, technical risk, operational risk, enterprise risk, liquidity risk, and so on. The individual would need experience with Big Data Engineering for integrated risk management to continue the growth and improvement of their software platforms for credit and fraud risk management.


Responsibilities:

  • Technology Leadership: Lead a team of dedicated engineers to design, develop, and maintain IRM platforms. Provide guidance, mentorship, and strategic direction to ensure delivery of scalable, reliable, and performant solutions.
  • Platform Development and Optimization: Drive the optimization of IRM platforms within established budgets for application delivery and platform health. Implement standard processes for performance, security, and scalability in compliance with industry regulations and frameworks. Identify areas for improvement and drive continuous enhancement of system performance.
  • Collaboration and Integration: Work closely across teams, including product management to integrate IRM platforms with Enterprise systems, APIs, and data sources, handle shifting priorities and act as key contact for issue resolution.
  • Team Development and Management: Cultivate an innovative team spirit, excellence, and continuous learning within the engineering team. Provide leadership in talent acquisition, skill development, and performance management to build a successful engineering organization.
