We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Project Engineer with a background in injection molding to support our engineering team across two locations: Plymouth and Minnetonka, MN. The role involves working closely with other engineers and maintenance teams to qualify new equipment, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and support line operations. This is a 6-month contract position with the potential for extension based on experience and project needs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Equipment Qualification: Lead the qualification of new equipment by identifying and addressing down issues, malfunctions, and tooling identifications. Work collaboratively with the team to correct and optimize equipment performance.
  • Injection Molding Manufacturing: Support injection molding operations by troubleshooting equipment, resolving line issues, and providing hands-on support for smaller tooling and equipment adjustments.
  • Supplier Collaboration: Work with suppliers to purchase and qualify new tooling and equipment. Ensure that all equipment meets specifications and is ready for production use.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation for equipment qualifications, tooling changes, and any modifications or repairs. Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and industry regulations.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate project status, issues, and updates to cross-functional teams. Provide both written and oral communication to ensure alignment and understanding among stakeholders.
  • Line Support: Provide day-to-day support for production lines, including troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues to minimize downtime.
  • Collaboration Across Locations: Work primarily in Plymouth (80%) with occasional work in Minnetonka (20%) alongside a team of engineers and maintenance professionals.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: 1-5 years of experience in a molding background, specifically with injection molding manufacturing.
  • Equipment Qualification: Demonstrated experience in the qualification of new equipment and troubleshooting in a production environment.
  • Industry Experience: Medical device manufacturing experience is highly preferred but not required.
  • Technical Skills: Strong documentation skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for coordinating with internal teams and external suppliers.
