Summary: We are seeking an experienced candidate who can facilitate the migration of legacy systems, which are primarily developed in T-SQL, Perl, and Shell Scripting with Sybase databases, to the Azure Cloud platform. The ideal candidate should be proficient in leveraging Azure Databricks and Azure Synapse Analytics for this transition and possess hands-on experience with programming languages such as Python and Java.


Key Responsibilities:

Design and construct robust, scalable data processing systems using T-SQL within the Microsoft SQL Server environment.

Develop and maintain Python scripts for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.

Rewrite existing Shell and Perl scripts into Python or Java.

Utilize Azure services like Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Azure Blob Storage, and Azure Data Lake for efficient data storage and access.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, provide data engineering expertise, and implement solutions.

Ensure data integrity and consistency through effective testing and validation.

Participate in code reviews, maintain documentation, and adhere to best practices in database management and coding.


Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Strong proficiency in writing complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.

Experience with Python programming, particularly in the context of data manipulation and automation.

Solid understanding of Shell Scripting in a Linux/Unix environment.

Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services, especially those related to data management (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory).

Familiarity with version control tools like Git and CI/CD principles.

Knowledge of data modeling, ETL design, and data warehousing principles.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
