JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood a global engineering and construction firm dedicated to providing innovative and sustainable solutions to our clients in the oil and gas industry. With a focus on safety, efficiency, and environmental stewardship, we pride ourselves on delivering successful projects that meet the highest industry standards. As we embark on a new offshore brownfield asset retirement project based out of Covington, LA, we are seeking a talented and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team.

The Lead Electrical Engineer will play a lead role in managing electrical engineering efforts for an offshore brownfield asset retirement project. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, process, and structural engineers, along with environmental and regulatory specialists, developing and implementing electrical engineering solutions to safely decommission offshore facilities while minimizing environmental impact and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

In addition to the production of engineering deliverables (construction work packs, engineering studies, regulatory & environmental reviews, asset management plans), a key success factor for the selected candidate will be the ability to efficiently manage the flow of work to remote (workshare) offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and oversee all electrical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptual design to execution and closeout.
  • Develop electrical engineering deliverables, including single-line diagrams, electrical equipment layouts, cable schedules, and specifications, in accordance with project requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct electrical load and short-circuit analyses, voltage drop calculations, and protective device coordination studies to ensure the reliability and safety of electrical systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior electrical engineers and designers, fostering their professional development and ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets, and monitor progress against key milestones.
  • Interface with clients, regulatory agencies, and third-party contractors to address technical inquiries, resolve engineering issues, and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Participate in safety reviews, including electrical hazard assessments and arc flash studies, to identify and mitigate potential hazards associated with decommissioning activities.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to evaluate alternative electrical system designs and recommend optimal solutions.
  • Support procurement activities by reviewing vendor proposals, participating in technical evaluations, and ensuring compliance with project specifications.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and environmental stewardship, ensuring that all electrical engineering activities are conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering roles, with a focus on offshore oil and gas projects.
  • Proven expertise in electrical design, analysis, and optimization of offshore production facilities, including power distribution systems, lighting systems, and instrumentation and control systems.
  • Proficiency in electrical engineering software tools, such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, and AutoCAD Electrical, for electrical system design and analysis.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering innovative and practical engineering solutions.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards governing offshore decommissioning activities, including API, NEC, and NEMA requirements.
  • Willingness to travel to offshore facilities and project sites as needed to support engineering activities and project execution.
