Traveling Commercial Superintendent

Based in Dallas, TX (with travel to project sites as needed)


Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Traveling Commercial Superintendent to oversee and manage ground-up commercial construction projects across various sectors, including automotive, healthcare, industrial, office, retail, and senior living. Projects range in size up to $20 million. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires extensive travel to project sites as needed.


Key Responsibilities:


Project Management:

  • Oversee all on-site construction activities from start to finish for assigned projects.
  • Ensure projects are completed in accordance with the contract documents, schedules, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel to maintain project timelines.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.


Schedule Management:

  • Develop, monitor, and update project schedules to ensure timely completion of all phases of construction.
  • Identify and mitigate potential delays and take proactive measures to keep the project on track.


Quality Control:

  • Conduct regular inspections of work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and building codes.
  • Address any quality issues promptly and ensure that corrective actions are implemented.


Budget Management:

  • Assist in managing project budgets, including tracking and forecasting costs.
  • Work closely with the project management team to ensure that projects are delivered within the established budget.


Client Communication:

  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain open lines of communication to provide regular updates on project status and address any concerns.


Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including daily reports, progress photos, and safety logs.
  • Report regularly to the project management team on the status of the project, including any issues that may impact the schedule or budget.


Travel Requirements:

  • Travel frequently to project sites across the designated regions, with potential extended stays depending on project requirements.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-10 years of experience as a Superintendent in ground-up commercial construction projects, with a focus on projects up to $20 million.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the commercial construction industry, including experience in automotive, healthcare, industrial, office, retail, and senior living sectors.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications. Familiarity with construction management software and scheduling tools (e.g., Procore, MS Project).
  • Leadership: Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams, including subcontractors and site personnel.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Safety Certification: OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Travel: Willingness and ability to travel extensively to project sites as needed.
