Carpenter SupervisorThis is a temporarily position with duration for two years. The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is the nation's oldest and largest public housing authority with more than 177,000 apartments, and responsibility for administering a citywide Section 8 leased housing program that serves over 200,000 additional tenants. The Healthy Homes Office of Mold Assessment and Remediation (OMAR) is seeking qualified Carpenter Supervisor to join the Enhanced Oversight Program Plus (EOP Plus). This program addresses mold and leak repair backlogs. As part of a 30+ member Temporary staff consisting of Bricklayers, Carpenters, Painters, and Plumbers, selected candidates will work at various developments across the city, focusing on resolving work orders older than 100 days and contributing to the reduction of backlogs and improved response times. In this role, Carpenter Supervisor expertise will be applied to address critical mold and leak repair needs, ensuring repairs are completed efficiently with faster response times. The program will focus efforts on specific sites where the work will directly impact site maintenance and the overall quality of living for residents. Under general supervision, the Carpenter Supervisor will be part of a specialized team addressing mold and leak repairs citywide as part of the Enhanced Oversight Program Plus. Duties will include, but are not limited to:Supervise and coordinate daily activities of carpenters and other assigned personnel.Plan, assign and review work to ensure it meets project specifications and quality standards.Interpret blueprints, drawings, and project documents to guide carpentry tasks.Ensure proper use and maintenance of carpentry tools, equipment, and materials.Monitor work progress and make adjustments to schedules as needed.Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with safety standards and building codes.Train, mentoring, and providing technical guidance to carpenters.Enforce safety protocols and promote a safe work environment.Communicate with project managers, contractors, and other trades to coordinate activities.Assist with material procurement and inventory management for carpentry needs.Additional information:NYCHA employees applying for promotional, title or level change opportunities must have served a period of one year at current location and in current title and level (if applicable).NYCHA residents are encouraged to apply.
